LUONGO BELLWOAR LLP has been hired to represent several victims in a sexual assault case involving a Chester County massage therapist. The victims were assaulted during appointments at a well-known spa chain in West Goshen.
One criminal complaint alleges that 63-year-old massage therapist James Deiter molested a female victim at the Massage Envy Spa on West Chester Pike during her massage. The 55-year-old victim had received regular massages from Deiter for months, and told police she had never previously felt uncomfortable during a session. This was not the case during her 90-minute massage in late April.
According to a spokesman for the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, Deiter “groomed” the victim by gaining her trust over a period of time before sexually assaulting her. Dieter “took advantage of a victim in a very vulnerable position.” Deiter was fired from the spa after the victim reported the incident. He is now in Chester County prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. Facing Charges of Aggravated Indecent Assault and Indecent Assault
This was not Deiter’s first incident at Massage Envy. He had previously been suspended when another female client claimed he had fondled her. However, he was allowed to return to work when that woman did not follow through with an official statement. After his arrest, Deiter provided police with the names of four other victims he had assaulted in the West Goshen spa. Several other women have since stepped forward reporting similar incidents involving Deiter. You can read about their stories here. Any additional victims are urged to contact police.
