PA Enacts “It’s On Us” Grant to End Sexual Assault on College Campuses


governor_tom_wolf_official_portrait_2015The Pennsylvania state government is making strides toward combating sexual assault on college campuses, according to this NBC article.

Governor Tom Wolf recently announced the “It’s On Us” Campaign. This will provide 36 Pennsylvania postsecondary institutes with a total of $1 million in grants, up to $30,000 per school, for efforts to prevent sexual assault, a serious epidemic.

According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one out of 5 women and one out of 16 men are sexually assaulted while in college.

During a news release, Wolf said, “Sexual assault has a corrosive effect on all of us. My administration is committed to combating this urgent and serious epidemic, specifically on college campuses. I am proud to announce grants to Pennsylvania postsecondary institutions to increase awareness, education and resources to combat sexual assault.”

Community colleges, junior colleges, and four-year universities had the opportunity to apply for this grant. More than 60 schools applied, and the following three dozen were chosen:

  • Slippery Rock University – $14,866.00
  • Chestnut Hill College – $28,450.00
  • California University – $29,994.00
  • Drexel University – $29,995.00
  • Lincoln University – $30,000.00
  • Pennsylvania State University – $30,000.00
  • Indiana University – $30,000.00
  • Northampton Community College – $29,740.00
  • University of the Sciences in Philadelphia – $29,250.00
  • Misericordia University – $25,400.00
  • Millersville University – $29,994.00
  • Temple University – $25,853.00
  • Franklin & Marshall College- $30,000.00
  • Point Park University – $10,265.00
  • Shippensburg University – $27,000.00
  • University of Pittsburgh – $12,750.00
  • Delaware County Community College – $19,905.00
  • Keystone College – $19,100.00
  • Gannon University – $30,000.00
  • The Commonwealth Medical College – $30,000.00
  • Carlow University – $27,940.00
  • Juniata College – $30,000.00
  • Mount Aloysius College – $19,947.00
  • Eastern University – $15,300.00
