Thanks to Pennsylvania’s Victims Compensation Assistance Program, PA crime victims can be granted access to a little-known fund. The fund is dedicated for paying for medical expenses incurred from being victims of crimes.
Each victim is eligible for up to $35,000 in compensation for medical bills. Police who respond to calls about crimes are supposed to inform victims about the program, but that doesn’t always happen.
One victim who lost several teeth as the result of an attack was grateful for access to these funds. His dentist in Bala Cynwyd estimated that dental implants, which would complete his smile, would cost $24,000.
In total, the program awards about $13 million to crime victims every year. Click here for the full story.
